Volatile raw materials keep Engineering Thermoplastics markets guessing

The global Engineering Thermoplastics markets have dealt with a variety of influences and been pulled in all directions during the first half of 2017. Producers of Engineering Thermoplastics successfully pushed through significant price increases during the first quarter of 2017 as the industry coped with sharply higher raw material costs.

In some markets, such as polyamide 6 and polyamide 66, producers managed to expand margins for the first time in several years. However, just as the polymer producers were on the verge of implementing further increases in March and April, raw material prices started to weaken or, in some cases, abruptly collapsed.
