Strong and trend-defying European epoxy resin prices buck expectations

Epoxy resin consumers had found themselves on the back foot in quarter one, with suppliers dictating the terms of the market for a change. Lower Asian import volumes kept the European market tight and producers were said to be running flat out trying to keep up with domestic demand. Turning to quarter two, export data indicates Asian epoxy resin material will soon start to make a presence in Europe, therefore easing supply. At the same time, raw material prices are coming down. And yet LER prices seem impervious to both these weakening influences and are staying stubbornly strong.
